I am once again weaning myself off of coffee. Right now I am down to a cup a day, although there have been a couple of days when I didn't have any at all.
Those were rough days.
This week I am going to cut myself down to half a cup.
HALF A CUP!
But don't fret over me, I've got plenty of warm teas and apple ciders to keep me warm.
I'll admit we've already lit our fireplace and yes, even the heater has clicked on.
The trees outside our window are starting to look bare and while that saddens me (come back fall!) it is also nice to once again be able to see Badger Mountain looming over us. At least with winter we will get new scenery.
I am typing this in the early morning, so early the sun isn't completely out yet. But I like this time of day. The gray skies. The quiet. The bright yellow leaves that have yet to fall bring sparkles of light in the tranquil morning. If you sit still you can almost hear the river nearby.
Molly and I are sharing some pumpkin bread this morning. I rarely if ever feed her people food, especially food I am currently eating, but I know how much she loves pumpkin.
I used THIS RECIPE to make it and it came out pretty good. Next time I'll add some nuts or maybe chocolate chips. I did add some allspice. Just a sprinkle.
I've never made pumpkin bread before, but I was pleased with how this turned out. Not too sweet. Very moist. Now I just have to keep myself from eating the whole thing.
I may have to send some with Craig to work. He won't eat it, but maybe his coworkers will.
So at this point you can just grab a spoon and go to town. But I promise it is best to wait until after it bakes.
Finally using this little pan I found in an apartment we moved into. Perfect for a small loaf of bread.
Can you see how impatient I am? I kept stabbing at it to see when it was finished.
This was one of many pieces.
